Software modernization for Gewaltschutzzentrum Steiermark
The Gewaltschutzzentrum Steiermark offers help and support to people threatened or affected by violence in their own home, in their personal environment, or by stalking. We were able to completely modernize the administrative software used for case documentation and tracking, resulting in more efficient client management and improved statistics.
Task
For over 20 years, the Gewaltschutzzentrum Steiermark has been using a management software developed specifically for its needs to provide assistance and support to victims of violence, as well as to report statistics. We were commissioned to update the software to the latest standards in terms of user-friendliness and technology.

We worked with the client to develop the software’s new user interface and a concept to improve existing features. At the same time, we digitized a manual process and added new features to the software.

The problem
The Gewaltschutzzentrum Steiermark uses centralized management software to document client cases and their respective services. Despite ongoing improvements, the existing solution no longer met current technological standards. This led to limitations in documentation and had a negative impact on data quality and statistical analyses.


The solution
We provide ongoing support for the existing software and wrote a requirements document to modernize the software from the ground up. Every input field and every function was discussed in multiple UI/UX workshops with the client.
The final concept was implemented with existing and new features to improve usability, efficiency, and data quality. Furthermore, the manual process for handling calls was analyzed and a digitalization concept for callbacks was developed, which expanded the original project scope.


Conclusion
The new software simplifies the daily work of employees, improves client support, and optimizes statistics. The close collaboration has fostered the client’s technical understanding and their desire for more digitalization. The software and its features are continuously improved going forward to further improve work life and services.
